The Ready Steady Light (RSL) is an annual competition which will see teams of lighting professionals competing against each other to design and set up temporary exterior installations with a limited range of equipment in 90 minutes.
About the competition
Light Middle East together with The Society of Light & Lighting, UK and Light Func has been hosting the Ready Steady Light Competition for 4 years running, with the 4th edition taking place on 15th October 2019.
For the first time ever, RSL was held inside the Light Middle East exhibition halls. In addition to a new location for the event, this year, students and aspiring lighting pupils also participated in Ready Steady Light. For the competition each randomly chosen team was allocated a site and, returning to basic engineering and design, teams were tasked with lighting their site in its natural state with the equipment provided. They each had to overcome challenges without a budget and within time constraints.
